Transactional Advising

Under the guidance of Law School faculty and staff, students participating in the transactional component of the Lindsay and Matt Moroun Religious Liberty Clinic counsel a wide variety of religious organizations. Our Clinic helps religious organizations navigate a variety of tax, corporate, transactional, employment, and other strategic matters.

The Clinic has counseled an array of religious organizations, including:

  • religious bodies and houses of worship,
  • domestic and international religious ministries,
  • religious orders,
  • religious healthcare organizations,
  • religious schools and universities,
  • religious nonprofit housing providers,
  • faith-based trade associations,
  • social welfare organizations, and
  • for-profit benefit corporations.

Among other services, the Clinic has assisted these organizations by:

  • forming new non-profit entities,
  • drafting articles, bylaws, and corporate policies,
  • securing tax-exempt status for religious non-profit organizations,
  • advising on religious freedom implications on employment and governance matters,
  • counseling on asset protection strategies, and
  • drafting and reviewing contracts and grant agreements.
