Advocacy

isidore

Under the guidance of Law School faculty and staff, students in the Litigation and Global Religious Persecution & Immigration components of the Lindsay and Matt Moroun Religious Liberty Clinic defend and promote religious freedom for all people before an array of decision-making bodies. Our Clinic advocates for the right of people of all beliefs to exercise, express, and live according to their faith both domestically and abroad.

Domestic Litigation

Our Clinic represents individuals and organizations of all faith traditions in defense of their religious freedom before state and federal courts and administrative bodies. Advocating for the freedom of religion of all people, we have worked to protect religious exercise across a variety of contexts.

Our Clinic counsels those facing challenges to their religious freedom, from before legal disputes arise through litigation and appeals. In addition to representing parties directly involved in all stages of litigation, our Clinic routinely files amicus briefs on behalf of interested groups in support of legal protections for religious exercise.

Global Religious Persecution & Immigration

rlc orientation

Our Clinic confronts global religious persecution through direct legal representation of asylum seekers, policy advocacy, and collaborative research. We represent individuals of all faith traditions seeking asylum in the United States, supporting clients in both affirmative asylum cases before U.S. asylum officers and defensive asylum cases in immigration court.

Working alongside other legal experts, NGOs, and government officials, our Clinic advocates for policies and laws that protect the freedom of religion of all people. Our Clinic develops reports and legal analyses on issues of religious persecution, international law, and forced displacement of religious minorities.
